Recruitment company charged with misleading jobseekers

A recruitment company has been closed down after misleading job-hunters by offering them job interviews for a fee.
The Companies Investigation Branch (CIB) of the Insolvency Service led an enquiry into the firm that was aimed largely at recruiting Kenyan nationals for UK jobs, charging them a £38 fee, reports Personnel Today.
CIB had even more concerns about how the company collected personal information and whether there were controls in place to make sure it complied with Data Protection legislation.
The branch also found there was a lack of adequate accounting records with the bank accounts being used, said the magazine.
CIB is part of the regulatory arm of the Department for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform.
While the branch is part of the Insolvency Service, it is not limited to companies that have become insolvent, with most of its investigations being with firms that are actively trading.
