Thousands of new jobs could be created by an urban village development in Wales, it has been reported.
Regeneration specialists St Modwen claim the £1.2 billion Coed Darcy scheme at Llandarcy will generate up to 4,000 new positions, according to the Swansea Evening Post.
Speaking to the local newspaper, Rupert Joselands, regional director of the firm, explained that between 3,000 and 4,000 construction and on-site jobs will be created by the work, which has already started.
The publication noted that the village on a former BP oil refinery site will consist of 700 homes, three primary schools and one secondary school.
Work has already begun on the first 200 homes.
Mr Joselands added: "The whole idea is to create an integrated community or a new town. It is a new settlement. It is very much about creating a place where people can work, live and play and where there is education and people want to stay."
In other news, BSkyB has announced it will create hundreds of jobs at Leeds-based firm Portal after signing a deal with the company to provide a fully-managed occupier solution approach.
