A new survey has found that average salaries in London are now £11,000 higher than anywhere else in the UK.
Employment search engine AllTheTopBananas.com compiled its salary index by analysing over half a million job adverts over the last six months.
Personnel Today reports that jobs in London had an average advertised salary of £41,079, with those outside the capital earning just £30,450.
East Anglia was second in the index with an average of £32,551, while the north-west of England came bottom with £28,641.
Dave Martin, managing director of AllTheTopBananas.com, told the website: "We continue to forecast rises in average salaries, and a growing gap between London salaries and those in the rest of the UK."
Recent research by Ceridian found that one in six employees will not ask for a pay rise, with only 19 per cent of under 34s feeling "comfortable" asking for more money, Online Recruitment reported.
