14/02/2008(16:45)

Top bosses are concerned about the lack of IT staff and are worried it will affect their businesses, according to a new report.

A study by the IT Governance Institute (ITGI) found almost 60 per cent of the 749 C-level executives who were surveyed said that the lack of IT staff in the organisation poses a problem, reports Computer World.

This has increased on the figure in 2005 which was 35 per cent, the research also showed that 93 per cent of respondents thought IT was somewhat to very important to their company.

ITGI reports that a despite drop in employment in other sectors and the looming fears of an economic recession IT workers are still in high demand.

Recent research by Gartner says that leaders are placing IT departments at the forefront of business growth in 2008.

The research says that executives are looking to Human Resources staff to attract highly skilled staff and retaining them.
