It has been revealed that the "significant" steps are being made on construction of the Olympic Park in London.
John Armitt, the chairman of the Olympic Delivery Authority, has announced that revealed that work is in progress on two essential components of the park.
Construction is currently "well underway" in the primary electrical substation which will supply all electricity to the Olympic Park.
Work on the substation is being undertaken by EDF Energy and is scheduled to be completed by summer 2009.
Also, the site for the energy centre, which will provide power, heating and cooling to the park, has been cleared and the foundations are set to be laid before construction begins.
Mr Armitt said: "These utility networks and infrastructure will power the long-term development of the Olympic Park for many years to come so with construction work well underway, we are building for Games and legacy together from the very beginning."
Earlier this month, it was revealed that transport projects planned for the games could be completed as early as 2010.
