Increase in London financial vacancies
28/07/2008(15:41)
Job vacancies in London's financial industry rose in June, according to a new report.
The Morgan McKinley London Employment Monitor found that the number of vacancies rose by nine per cent compared to the figure for May.
Accountancy Magazine reports that the total volume of jobs remained down seven per cent year on year.
The report suggests that the longer working month in June could be a reason for the rise in job volumes.
According to Morgan McKinley, the summer is seen by many as "a good time to move roles" so they can take "gardening leave over the summer months before starting their new job in the autumn".
Big four accountancy firm Ernst & Young recently informed university leavers who were due to join the company in September that they may have to wait until spring 2009 to assume their positions.
