'Newly qualified City lawyers to get pay increases'

Newly qualified lawyers can benefit from pay increases being implemented by a number of City firms.
The Lawyer.com has reported that new pay structures have been announced by two firms.
Baker & McKenzie will now offer £64,000 to recently qualified lawyers, a rise of 0.8 per cent from last years figure.
Employees with two and three years post-qualification experience (PQE) will be given pay rises of £2,000, with trainee solicitors receiving a £1,000 yearly pay increase.
A spokesperson for Baker & McKenzie told the website: "We have repositioned our trainee and associate salaries competitively with other top law firms."
Fellow legal firm Macfarlanes has announced a £1,000 pay rise to first year PQEs, with two and three year PQEs receiving an increase of £5,000 and £3,000 respectively.
In other legal news, The Lawyer.com reports that firm Shadbolt & Co has rebranded under the new name Shadbolt/Law.
