Business leaders have lent their support to a £1 billion golf development in Scotland, which could boost tourism jobs in the region.

According to a BBC report, businessman Donald Trump's plans are being supported by the CBI Scotland, the Federation of Small Businesses and the Scottish Chambers of Commerce, all of which claim it will bring both construction and tourism work to the area.

Plans were initially rejected after protests by a number of groups, claiming that plans to build on delicate sand dunes would have a negative effect on the environment.

If approval is granted, the development will feature two championship golf courses, a five star hotel, 950 holiday homes and 500 private houses at a site north of Aberdeen.

Commenting on the development, Scottish Chambers of Commerce chief executive Liz Cameron told the news provider that she urged the government to grant permission, noting: "Our economy needs every boost it can get at the moment."

Meanwhile, This is Cornwall recently reported that the £30 million Cornwall Hotel and Spa project to develop a Grade II listed building could create some 480 new jobs in the future.
