We act in conjunction with another recruitment company on this assignment whose client is an engineering company who specialise in manufacturing avionics equipment and who is part of a British International Engineering Group with sales of over £600m pa. They are currently seeking a Buyer to be based at their manufacturing plant on the South Coast in Hampshire. The primary purpose of the role is the efficient purchase of materials and services in doing so meeting our clients cost, quality and delivery requirements. Reporting into the Purchasing Manager you will purchase orders and action MAX data as required. You will liaise with suppliers to investigate opportunities that may lead to improvements in cost, quality and delivery. You will raise and process relevant documentation for returning defective parts to suppliers and will liaise as necessary with sub-contractors and materials control to ensure continuity of supply. You will maintain the MAX system, ensuring MRP purchasing-related data is accurate and will progress suppliers as required by MRP demand date. Finally you will maintain purchase order status (by amendments) and will report MRP data statistics to the Purchasing Manager on a weekly basis. Knowledge and Skills: The successful candidate will ideally be CIPS Qualified with buying experience within an electro-mechanical environment Your previous experience will include purchasing electro-mechanical goods and ideally working within a sub- contract environment.
