Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Technician DAY SHIFT ONLY 27,070 plus benefits including pension plan and holiday. We require a mechanical fitter/maintenance engineer for work at a leading London company. The Role: Responsible to the Mechanical Engineering Manager through Mechanical Maintenance Supervisors you will carry out repairs and installation work on all mechanical equipment to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the company's equipment. Work will involve: Machining to close tolerances, welding and steel fabrication etc. Diagnosing faults and carrying out effective repairs without supervision when on callout duty. Supplying and maintaining in good order, a comprehensive range of basic Fitter's tools Participating in the training of staff. Inspecting and supervising work carried out by contractors when directed by a Mechanical Supervisor. Direct experience in the repair and overhaul of Steam Turbines is desirable along with knowledge of much of the following plant: Water Tube Boilers Pumps Cranes Hydraulic Systems Compressors Fans Conveyors Specific Requirements: The nature of the job is such that many plant failures necessitate immediate action and this may require working outside normal working hours on occasion. Such failures require the safest, fastest and most effective repair possible; hence a commitment to working to such hours either on a callout basis or overtime is essential.
