Search Help
Standard search
Simply enter keywords into one or more of the search fields and hit return, or click the search button.
Quotation Marks
Using quotes allows you to search for combined words, or phrases
e.g. "software sales"
"project manager"
Boolean search
Allows the use of Boolean logic to build a search string.
NOT – Results must not include whatever follows the NOT. e.g. Manager not Sales
AND – Results must include the words before and after the AND. e.g. HTML and ASP.NET
OR – Results must include one of the words either side of the OR e.g.
Bristol or Bath
Brackets – Allow the order of precedence of the above terms to be changed
* (wild cards) – Allow any word that includes the letters attached to the wild card symbol e.g. dev* for developer, developers, development or developing.
Multiple terms
can be included in a search string e.g. Manager or Director not Sales
Math search
Allows the use of basic maths symbols to build up a search string
+ (plus) the search results must have the word that follows e.g. Bristol + Bath
- (minus) the search results must not have the word that follows e.g. Manager – Sales
. (dot) can be used to indicate a word is desirable but not essential.
Saving searches
Registered candidates can save a search string for re-use at a later date. Saved searches can be edited at any time.
Refining search results
Multiple Town names
If more than one location with the same name exists, they will all be listed and you can choose the correct one.

The Proximity bar allows you to expand, or reduce the radius of the search, from 0 to 100
miles. The number of jobs matching your current search request will be displayed for various distances. Click on a different distance to view those jobs.
Salary selection
The
Salary/Rate
tab on the left hand menu provides the facility to refine the search by annual salary or contractor rate. The number of jobs in each pay band is shown in brackets.
Industry selection
The
Industry
tab on the left hand menu allows the search to be refined by industry sector. The number of jobs for each sector is shown in brackets.
