Data Steward - Dutch or French Speaker (Contract)

Location: Brussels + 3 days per week Remote Country: Belgium Rate: 635 Euros per day

My client is looking for an experienced Data Steward.

Job Description:

Today, the customer is confronted with the evolution of the energy landscape (integration of renewable energy and decentralized production, arrival of new players on the market, closure of central generation units, arrival of batteries, EV, CRM, CEP, etc.) and the possibilities of digitalization (automation, AI, remote monitoring,...) combined with the great ambitions of the main activities (support electrification, integration flexibility, congestion management, ...)

Data plays a key role in supporting these evolutions: more and more, data is an enabler for the decision-making process (operational, tactical, strategic). However, we are confronted with a number of data-related challenges, which make the customer want to focus on, among other things:

  • Setting up data domains. All data is assigned to a domain, to which an owner is assigned. The owner then becomes accountable for the data in their domain. They are supported by the data steward, who is responsible for monitoring data quality, etc.
  • The switch from IT-led data products to business-led data products. The responsibility for high-quality, timely delivery of data products will lie with the business. The elaboration of the data products is then done by multidisciplinary (business and IT) teams, which also include the data steward.
  • Extensive training and coaching, including for the data stewards, in order to be able to make and support transition.
  • Governance of all this is important and will also be set up (including for data stewards).

It is therefore clear that the Data Steward plays a crucial role in our data-driven ambitions!

  • lead root cause analysis when the current value of a KPI does not match the target value;
  • propose, coordinate and follow up on the implementation of solutions (curative actions or long-term solutions); you are in close contact with business and IT for this,
  • You support the data owner within his domain and contribute to the development of products.

Additional requirements:

  • You are familiar with the electricity sector or you are able to quickly gain insight into this sector and the underlying concepts.
  • You have several years of experience as a data steward.
  • You have experience in SQL, Python, ... or analytical tools.
