Job Summary:
SAIC is looking for a service-oriented, organized, self-starting individual capable of working both independently and in a team environment to manage a number of sophisticated development networks. This position principally involves managing the assembly, installation, administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computers, computer components, and computer networks to ensure functionality and efficiency. The successful applicant must have education/experience in the field of computer science/systems or electrical engineering.
Required
1) 5 years of experience in Linux system administration or 10 years of lead system administrator experience in a heterogeneous (Linux/UNIX/Mac/Windows) networked environment;
2) Demonstrated technical expertise in several of the following technologies: Xen/KVM Hypervisors, LDAP, DNS, DHCP, PXE Boot, NFS4, AutoFS, OpenStack cloud framework, Samba3/4, Active Directory, Cisco IOS, SNMP, Apache, SSL certificates, Subversion, Git, RAIDs, VOIP & Soft-Switches;
3) Experience analysing and developing systems in the context of changing technologies;
4) Ability to assemble and troubleshoot PC hardware;
5) Strong interpersonal and documentation skills and the ability to work well in a team environment;
6) Ability to multitask and meet deadlines on a variety of activities;
7) Willingness to learn and continually upgrade skills;
8) Ability to create dynamic solutions in situations that have never before been documented or seen;
9) Ability to obtain a DOE Q and SCI clearance and a willingness to take a polygraph.
Desired
1) Programming experience in Python, Bash, or C;
2) A familiarity with cyber security issues;
3) Experience administering the following branded technologies:
OpenSuSE Linux, Ubuntu Linux, Plone CMS, VMware;
4) Experience with network protocols and analysis including tools such as Tcpdump, Wireshark, and Nmap;
5) An active DOE Q or L (or equivalent) clearance
Typical Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in computer related field. An additional 4 years of experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree may be considered. 5 years of experience in Linux system administration or 10 years of lead system administrator experience in a heterogeneous (Linux/UNIX/Mac/Windows) networked environment
