Lead UNIX Administrator - Permanent

Yoh has a direct hire opportunity for a Lead UNIX Administrator to join our client in Alexandria, Virginia.

Job Responsibilities:
- The Lead UNIX Administrator will support a Linux/Solaris server infrastructure.
- Operating, maintaining, and supporting the overall server architecture in a 5,000 user, multi-site production environment.
- Performing daily maintenance activities, including patching and backup activities.
- May oversee the work of others team members and mentor other associates.
- Other duties as required.

Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's plus ten (10) years of experience administering UNIX/Linux/Solaris systems; degree can be substituted for additional experience.
- Ability to design UNIX based infrastructure solutions based on Solaris and Linux, document the solutions and test them in a lab environment. Provide early life cycle support on solutions deployed to production.
- Experience with designing and supporting high availability UNIX solutions.
- Experience with UNIX disaster recovery.
- Experience with Netbackup.
- Experience with automating UNIX deployment packages.
- Experience with and ability to understand, distill and document solution requirements.
- Experience with and ability to configure and deploy Solaris and Linux based complex solutions.
- Experience performing system administration duties on Solaris and Linux systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex Linux and Solaris problems.
- Experience with the ITSM helpdesk ticketing system.
- UNIX/Linux/Solaris Certifications a plus, but not necessary.
- Detail oriented and must be able to think independently.
- Must have a Do What Ever it Takes attitude.
- High level of initiative and self-confidence along with strong verbal and written communication skills is important.
- Skill in managing one's own time and the time of others based on an established project plan
- Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Skills in communicating effectively orally and in written format.
- Managed multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex Linux and Solaris problems.
