Primary Responsibilities
The Project Manager serves as a client advocate, guiding the successful completion of the client's projects form quote request to sample kit and receipt, through the lab, to final deliverables and invoicing.

Specific responsibilities
- Promptly (within 4-8 business hours) review LIMS login of work orders to verify the laboratory is meeting the client's requirements. Review preliminary billable and project data sheets for accuracy and completeness using COC, Quote and Project Notice. Confirm analyte lists, methods to be used, detection limits, quality control requirements, TAT, pricing and special client needs or requests. Contact the client promptly to resolve any problems or confusion regarding login so that potential problems can be corrected early.
- Monitor the status of projects as they progress toward completion. Maintain close communication with operations and if needed, actively coordinate the successful completion of a project. Contact the client in advance if a report is going to be delayed past a critical due date. Report problems to supervisor.
- Be familiar with environmental methods and regulations (eg, EPA, Standard Methods, SW-846, APDES, DOD QSM and ADEC Regulations). Know specifics about clients' projects and thoroughly understand how these regulations affect your clients' analytical and sampling requirements. Report to management any data deficiencies that have been reported to a client which impact their DQOs and/or billables.
- Investigate any data contradictions (eg, BTEX inconsistent with GRO, monitoring data that do not compare with historical results, and unexpected or unusual results). Be prepared to explain and defend all data.
- Sign laboratory data reports daily after reviewing for quality, completeness, and past history. Ensure printed data meet client requirements (eg, confirm analyte lists, methods used, detection limits, quality control requirements and any other special needs or requests). Prepare and include a case narrative as required.
- Maintain client and project specific files so that another project manager could read the file and then properly service that client as to their special requirements.
- Develop relationships with your clients so that you become their main contact for status, project coordination, bottle requests, and technical interpretation of reports. Work to satisfy their needs and advise them on factors affecting their projects. Develop trust and long term relationships by being responsive. Return all client phone calls and/or emails within two hours.
- Promote a positive working atmosphere by conducting daily business with a positive "can do" attitude. Maintain a strong positive image of the company when dealing with clients and employees.
- Attend staff meetings to communicate upcoming projects, TAT concerns, regulatory issues, etc.
- Perform other duties that are assigned in order that SGS may fulfil its mission of quality, service, and growth.
Profile
Degree in Chemistry or related science field
Skills
- Must be able to build strong relationships and promote teamwork.
- Attention to detail, ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities are a must.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Familiarity with MS Office and willingness to learn LIMS are also necessary.
- This position may require extended hours to fulfil client commitments.
