Test Automation Engineer - AutoTrader-130499

Description
The Test Automation Engineer is responsible for creating and executing automated test cases and capturing test results utilizing software tools, custom code and Scripting techniques. This position requires an individual with an exposure to programming concepts, analytical abilities and multitasking skills to work in a collaborative environment towards resolving complex problems. Candidates should be able to function effectively in a self-directed and creative way with minimal supervision. Excellent communication skills, an energetic and positive attitude, strong team skills and an ability to learn fast are a must. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, writing, debugging and executing code used in automated testing efforts.

Responsibilities
* Follow best practices with regard to automated testing
* Create generic and reusable solutions that are maintainable and adaptable to fast changing environments Coordinate regression test automation activities across supported applications
* Participate in the review and selection of manual test cases for automation test suites
* Write, debug and execute code used in automated testing efforts
* Maintain reporting/dashboard to track progress of efforts
* Promote the benefits of test automation within the organization
* Demonstrate ownership and accountability through self directed task management
* Review project documentation for all assigned projects to ensure that the project requirements are clearly defined
* Develop and execute test cases based on business requirements
* Report defects and escalate issues as needed
* Contribute to the project success in a team environment while simultaneously completing individual tasks and goals
* Share knowledge by effectively documenting work
* Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the assigned application(s), functional area(s) or project(s) Communicate effectively to the team throughout the development process

Qualifications
* 3+ years' experience developing code for automated test tools in a non-record/playback environment
* 3+ years' experience development automated test scripts with IBM's Rational Functional Tester or equivalent
* Scripting language
* Familiarity with data and keyword driven automation techniques
* 2+ years' experience with relational databases (ex. Oracle, MS SQL Server, MS Access) and SQL
* Exposure to object-oriented programming (ex. C, Visual Basic, JAVA/J2EE), DHTML, XML.
* Experience with source code control systems preferred
* Solid QA methodology and software testing experience, 3+ years' experience preferred
* Demonstrated commitment to continuous process improvement
* Expert troubleshooting and reasoning skills
* Demonstrated experience in organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating one's own work, and ability to multi-task successfully
* Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment (either independently or within a team setting) Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
* Must be able to contribute in a team environment
* Must be detail-oriented
* Experience with business support software applications such as MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Visio, Visual SourceSafe)
* Bachelor's degree in computing related field or equivalent work experience
