The Windows Systems Engineer reports to the Manager, Windows Systems, Service Delivery. The Windows team's primary responsibilities include: configuration, deployment and support of geographically distributed, client and corporate Windows infrastructures; deployment and support of essential internal support infrastructure; participation in product evaluation and product development; investigation and resolution of client and internal support incidents. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills are essential: members of the Windows team are highly engaged with multiple internal lines of business, partners, vendors and clients. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills are highly valued and required. Demonstrated commitment to growth in technical role is expected.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Configure, deploy and support client and corporate Windows infrastructures
  • 24X7 support of corporate and client Windows infrastructures
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot Windows infrastructures
  • Engage with technical and non-technical LOBs, partners, vendors and clients
  • Incident support and participation in on-call rotation
  • Create and maintain documentation: Logical/physical diagrams, run books, discovery documents, QA documents, status reports, after action reports, MOPs
  • Demonstrate commitment to optimizing processes and procedures
  • Participate in the evaluation, deployment and management of new technologies
  • Increase proficiency an expertise in general Windows technologies
  • Increasing knowledge and proficiency in area of specialty (Exchange, Citrix, Clustering, ESX, Virtualization)
  • Consistently demonstrate initiative and commitment to optimizing systems and processes

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience configuring, deploying, and managing Windows operating systems, agents, applications
  • Understands fundamental concepts of Operating Systems and system components: memory, CPU, Kernel, daemons, file system.
  • Working knowledge of most common TCP/IP protocols: TCP, UDP, DNS, NTP,
  • Familiar with OS systems tools, commands, utilities.
  • Understands fundamental hardware concepts: disk, memory, CPU, NIC, HBA, firmware
  • Familiar with fundamental concepts of distributed, complex enterprise deployments: networking, communication protocols, VLANs, multi-tiered environments, virtualization, hypervisors, routing, monitoring, storage connectivity, Firewalls
  • Familiar with installation and configuration best practices: security, partitioning, package installation, patch managements, user management, application installation, agent installation.
  • Can demonstrate fundamental troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Can troubleshoot basics performance and connectivity issues.
  • Effective communication skills. Ability to convey technical requirements and concepts, commensurate to one's Level, to technical and non-technical audience. Ability to create supporting documentation, communicate effectively with clients, vendors, colleagues.
  • Consistently demonstrates curiosity and enthusiasm. Eager to take on more sophisticated projects.
  • Consistently delivers projects as instructed by management.
  • Utilizes internal and external resources to solve technical problems. Demonstrates increasing independence.
