Microsoft's Legal & Corporate Affairs (LCA) division has an immediate opening for an experienced transactional attorney to join LCA Worldwide Sales Group. This position is based in Bellevue, Washington.
The attorney will help support the US and worldwide Marketing and Operations (M&O) organizations. If you are interested in the Consumerization of IT with a broad practice covering marketing, sales, distribution, readiness, operations, compliance, and competition work, on both the programmatic and transactional fronts for all Microsoft products and services, this could be a great fit for you! Responsibilities include providing front-line legal counseling to the US M&O businesses on a broad range of issues in support of:
- Microsoft's retail sales, operator channel, OEM, Enterprise, Public Sector, and Small and Medium Business account teams,
- Partner and customer-facing marketing campaigns and activities that cut across business and product groups, customer segments, and partner types
- Coordination and analysis of legal and policy issues relating to IP ownership, antipiracy, copyright, antitrust, compliance (including public sector compliance), trademark, privacy, and advertising law
- Development and implementation of tools and process-related improvements to facilitate and increase the efficiency of the provision of legal services
- Initiatives designed to enhance client readiness/training and the customer/partner experience
- A variety of issues related to programmatic and transactional agreements, including negotiating, drafting, and interpreting contract provisions in emerging areas of law such as social networking and cloud services
Qualifications for this position include:
- 3+ years relevant, current experience as a practicing attorney delivering excellent results, including top-tier law firm experience, preferably in the technology/software sector
- J.D. from an ABA accredited law school and excellent academic credentials is required
- Licensed to practice law in the US
- Ability to design and implement novel legal approaches to complex problems that balance business needs and legal risks
- Strong drafting skills, including the ability to document highly complex business transactions in a straightforward manner
- Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with a team
- Intelligent and practical business and legal judgment, highest level of integrity, ability to think strategically and communicate effectively, and desire to establish a trusted advisor relationship with executives and key business clients
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, meet demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment, prioritize workflow, and adjust to frequent workload fluctuations
- Ability to work across various internal business and LCA teams to drive issues to conclusion
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
