The Microsoft Legal & Corporate Affairs (LCA) team has an immediate opening for an attorney to join LCA's Online Services Division (OSD) legal team to provide strategic legal, policy and transactional support for Microsoft's online advertising platform. OSD's mission is to shape Microsoft's devices and services strategies, continually reinventing the way people live their lives online. As legal support for Microsoft Advertising, you will be partnering with clients to innovate the business of digital advertising, so that customers can amplify their brand stories across audiences, channels and screens in the most creative, engaging and efficient ways possible.

Responsibilities will include:

- Primary responsibility for delivery of legal services (including both counseling and transactional support) for local and commerce advertising teams.
- Providing legal advice and cross-divisional coordination on issues related to data privacy developing business models, and applicable regulatory frameworks.
- Providing assistance to and coordinating with legal and corporate affairs teams, including subject matter specialists and field sales support outside the United States, who assist with OSD legal matters.
- Ensuring close collaboration on Microsoft Advertising matters and coordinating with internal and external legal and non-legal expert resources, as necessary, to drive the analysis and resolution of relevant issues.
- Working with the other attorneys and paralegals on the OSD legal team to provide comprehensive legal services to all levels of the supported businesses, including development of process-related improvements to facilitate and increase the efficiency of legal services.

Qualifications:

- J.D. from an ABA accredited law school, excellent academic credentials, member of state bar.
- 6+ years as a practicing commercial attorney is required.
- 6+ years as a practicing commercial attorney with experience in online privacy, intellectual property counseling, advertising agreements and other complex transactions is preferred.
- Experience with copyright, trademark, privacy, advertising and/or regulatory counseling is preferred.
- Prior in-house experience with a public company and/or law firm experience working with Internet or high technology companies preferred.
- Outstanding analytical, writing and oral communication skills, as well as strong record of effective collaboration across distinct legal and business groups.
- Sound and practical business judgment, ability to think strategically, and desire to establish a "trusted advisor" relationship with executives and key business clients.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, meet demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment, prioritize workflow and adjust to frequent workload fluctuations.
- Ability to solve problems with a focus on achieving results that benefit our business as well as the businesses of our customers and partners.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively drive cross-group projects and collaborate well with diverse colleagues, clients and internal teams.
- Sense of humor.
