Microsoft's Online Services Division (OSD) is an exciting fast growing business division, and is responsible for delivering online services that seek to empower users by bringing them closer to the people and information that matter most to them. OSD provides services such as Bing search engine, the MSN portals and channels around the world and a variety of Internet advertising solutions for publishers and advertisers. OSD executes its strategy through ongoing product and brand development, partnerships and acquisitions.

The Controls & Compliance Manager role is a part of the OSD Finance Controllership team, responsible for maintaining a strong control environment, building and maintaining best in the class controls & compliance infrastructure, evangelizing process improvements and coordinating various assurance projects within OSD. This position offers a unique opportunity to leverage controls and accounting background while learning about the business dynamics of the Online Business. The successful candidate is a person with strong internal controls, technical accounting, auditing expertise, and solid project management skills who thrives in an exciting business environment.

The candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively across multiple technical and non-technical business units and organizational levels. The candidate is expected to have broad knowledge of various compliance and auditing frameworks and apply those to Online Services.

Key Responsibilities:
Maintain an effective controls & compliance program to address new or existing control or business risks in areas such as finance, IT, operations, marketing, procurement, sales, and business development.
Support the design and implementation of simple and scalable internal controls on a global scale.
Perform periodic monitoring procedures to ensure the health of financial, general application, and general computer controls.
Support the Yahoo!/Microsoft search alliance compliance related efforts to build and maintain a strong controls and compliance infrastructure.
Assist with process improvement and SOX compliance in the monthly close cycle.
Support investigation and resolution of technical accounting and business policy issues with key business partners.
Consult and support business transactions and strategic deals from a technical accounting perspective, including finance systems and processes.
Work with multiple teams to track and report on and identify current and future compliance issues.
Strong cross boundary collaboration skills with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with business partners spanning multiple groups outside of OSD Finance.
Drive and report on remediation activities related to non-compliance issues.
Complete and lead special projects, as needed.

Qualifications:
A minimum of 4-6 years work experience in auditing and financial accounting; Big 4 public accounting experience preferred.
Have strong knowledge of internal control reporting, processes, and frameworks (eg SOX, SSAE16, COSO, COBIT, etc.)
A BS/BA degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred.
Advanced understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley Act and US GAAP.
Able to effectively articulate abstract compliance concepts to multiple audiences of varying skill levels.
Self-motivated with ability to work with little supervision.
Strong analytical, judgment and decision making skills.
Will be detail-oriented, organized and comfortable with multi-tasking in a fast paced, highly dynamic environment
Strong project management skills.
Strong written and verbal communications skills as well as good presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to drive results and work with multi-discipline teams
