The Online Services Division (OSD) legal group within Microsoft's product and services legal department is looking for a strategic, highly motivated senior attorney to join our team at Microsoft's global headquarters near Seattle, Washington. In addition to GFS, our team provides legal support for pioneering products and services like Bing, Microsoft Advertising, Application Experiences, and MSN.

Primary Duties:
This position will lead the delivery of legal services (including counseling and transactional support) to Global Foundation Service's world-wide data center expansion, ongoing operations, and support of online services security and compliance.
Advise client executives and their teams on a broad range of legal, policy, business, and strategic issues, including licensing, procurement, privacy, security, other applicable regulatory frameworks, litigation and PR.
Counsel clients on Intellectual Property (IP) development, including issues relating to protecting Microsoft IP and the use of third party IP.
Draft and negotiate agreements for strategic partnerships, major supplier relationships, new US and international data centers and other complex commercial transactions.
Deliver training to client groups on relevant legal and policy issues.
Work closely with team attorneys and paralegals to provide comprehensive legal services to GFS, and develop process improvements to increase the efficiency of team's legal services.
Coordinate and collaborate with internal and external legal and non-legal expert resources, as necessary, to drive analysis and creative resolution of relevant legal and policy issues
We are looking for an experienced and strategic senior attorney with:
J.D. or equivalent from an ABA accredited law school, excellent academic credentials, and active license to practice law.
At least 9 years of experience as a practicing commercial attorney is required, with 10+ years strongly preferred.
Leadership and in-house experience supporting data center clients with security, intellectual property counseling and general commercial deal skills at public company strongly preferred.
Familiarity with international issues, public policy, telecom and litigation desired.
Outstanding analytical, writing and oral communication skills, as well as ability to collaborate across distinct legal and business groups.
Sound and practical business judgment, ability to think strategically, and aptitude to establish a
"Trusted advisor" relationship with executives and key business clients.
Ability to work efficiently, meet demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment, prioritize workflow and adjust to frequent workload fluctuations.
Enjoy working in a rapidly changing environment and comfortable navigating through ambiguous situations.
Ability to proactively solve problems with a focus on achieving results that benefit our business as well as the businesses of our customers and partners.
Ability to effectively drive cross-group projects and collaborate well with diverse colleagues, clients and internal teams.
