Responsibilities

SUMMARY

The Software Product Manager shares responsibility for planning, designing, and managing the development of the XL MyLabs products. The Software Product Manager is active in all phases of development, from collecting customer input and gathering requirements through user interface design and specification writing to quality-assurance testing. This position reports to the Director of Product Management (or designate), with authority to exercise leadership in the design and development of specific product features.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Track and prioritize software feature requests

2. Define the business case for specific feature requirements

3. Research user needs and expectations for specific feature requirements

4. Write use cases; functional specifications; and test plans for specific feature requirements

5. Collaborate with staff or freelance designers and team members to develop a cohesive user interface for new features

6. Conduct (or assist with) usability testing, user development conferences, and focus groups

7. Monitor and review the development of specific features including software engineering, QA, and documentation

8. Perform acceptance and ad-hoc functional testing of new features

Other related responsibilities, as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) required.

3+ years of experience in a software product manager, UX/instructional designer, business analyst, or similar position.
In-depth familiarity with software design, development, and release
Excellent teamwork, communication, and organizational skills
Experience in educational publishing, educational technology, or instructional design is a plus

This position requires occasional travel to customer events and conferences in North America (10%).
