This position is for an RF/EM Design Engineer in the Advanced Mobile Solutions (AMS) Division in Skyworks Newbury Park, CA design center as part of a group of RF/EM design engineers in support of high-volume power amplifier products and sub-systems for cellular handset applications.

The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of electromagnetic and RF and be a driven, committed team player.

Our EM/RF designers are responsible for designing and simulating all passive aspects of power amplifier module designs including low-loss output matching networks, high-directivity daisy-chain couplers, harmonic filters, and high isolation layouts for SAW/FBAR duplexers.

Our RF/EM Design Engineers will improve design of passive RF circuit designs in a fast-paced team environment. There is a heavy emphasis to work closely with PA design engineers to produce optimal co-simulation results.

The responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

o Designing semi-lumped RF matching networks in a PCB environment

o Designing high-isolation laminate layouts to support high-rejection SAW and BAW filters

o Co-simulating power amplifier designs

o Participating and conducting design reviews

o Generating circuit specifications

o Performing lab testing using RF test equipment

The circuit blocks involved in a typical product development include:

o Power Amplifiers

o SAW/BAW Duplexers & High-Q RF Filters

o Switches

o Power Detectors

o High-directivity couplers

Software Tools Used are:

o Ansoft HFSS,

o Agilent ADS and Momentum

o Matlab

o Excel

o Microsoft Office/Outlook

Hardware Tools Used are:

o Network Analyzers

o Spectrum Analyzers

o Signal Generators

o Digital Receivers

o Load-Pull/Tuners

o RF Probe Stations

Job Requirements:

Preferred MSEE or PhD with emphasis in RF and EM theory or equivalent.

. Innovative problem solver and a passion to win/contribute

. Solid RF fundamentals such as impedance matching, RLC resonant circuits, S-parameters, RF filters, couplers, EM shielding and RF isolation/couplings.

. Experienced with RF/EM design softwares, such as HFSS, ADS, Momentum, and APD; Familiar with small signal, large signal, harmonic balance, harmonic tuning, and load pull simulations

. Knowledge of filters and duplexers characerization, and filter designs

. Experienced with the use of lab test equipment such as load pull, network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, RF generator, power eter, and oscilloscope, and probe measurements

. Knowledge of HBT, FET, CMOS devices.

. Knowledge of RF switch design, power amplifier design, PA classes, PAE, PA performance enhancement techniques of ET, APT and DPD is a plus

. Knowledge of communication standards, such as LTE-A, WiFi, and the associated standards requirements on such as sensitivity, intermodulation, de-sense, ACLR, EVM"

. Knowledge of advanced RF packaging techniques, miniature SMT components and EMI shielding techniques
