Production Control Specialist

GENERAL SUMMARY

Prepares production jobs for processing on multi-technology computing platforms to ensure the highest levels of service and system availability are attained. Assures quality control by verifying output results are in accordance with established procedures.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position will work within the "Run Group" who supports all application scheduled batch processes.
- Duties will include supporting scheduled application batch jobs 24X7X365, performing troubleshooting and resolution for all failed batch processes in a timely manner, making modifications to the batch schedulers, providing support for month end processing of all applications, working with Application Development during code releases and promotions.
- A strong understanding of batch processing via scheduling software both with event and time dependencies is required.
- A working knowledge of the various FTP security data encryption protocols (SFTP, FTPS, HTTPS, FTPw/PGP) is
expected.
- A working knowledge of UNIX, Windows and VMS operating systems with experience in all facets of Computer Operations is required.
- Detailed technical analysis is expected to prevent performance bottlenecks, support best practices and stay current on software security changes.
- The position will require your availability via pager/cell phone as needed after business hours during the week and weekends.
- Will require on call night shift support during your team rotation every 10 weeks. You will work 5 weeks of night shifts while on call from home.
- Requires excellent communication skills, ability to persuade and influence for positive results, detail oriented, precise with numbers and strong presentation skills.
- Manages and controls the processing of programs and peripheral equipment on multi-technology computing platforms to ensure the highest levels of service and system availability are attained.
- Establishes production runs by reviewing instructions and ensuring that appropriate job control language, run documentation, and data files are available.
- Reviews documentation for appropriate input. Enters symbolic and parameter information into computer. Submits jobs to system for processing.
- Assures quality control and balancing function on completed computer jobs by verifying numbers, format, etc.
- Communicates status of operations to allow for immediate response to service disruptions.
- Resolves problems in production runs by performing problem identification and taking corrective action such as recreating tapes, correcting wrong input, identifying bad records, modifying the job control language, etc.
- Writes reports and prepares logs according to department procedures.
- Performs technical analysis of work load, equipment loading, performance bottlenecks, and software changes. Makes recommendations for improvements.
- Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications:

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

- Associate's degree or equivalent experience.
- Previous (3-5 years) experience in production and computer operations.
- Training in the operation of hardware components and data processing concepts required.
- Previous experience in a customer service setting.
- Demonstrated analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Previous health care experience preferred.
