Job Purpose: Classifies, abstracts, and assigns appropriate ICD-9/CPT-4 codes for all diagnoses and
procedures, both inpatient and outpatient for professional billing/physicians, to ensure accurate data is submitted to 3rd party payers for appropriate reimbursement.

Education
High school Diploma or Equivalent required
Licenses and/or Certifications (Required and Preferred)
CPC required
Related Work Experience and Other Skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and patient privacy standards set by department as well as hospital
Ability to work as a team player
Work Experience: 2 years experience
Job Roles
Assigns appropriate ICD-9/CPT-4 codes for all diagnoses and procedures affecting
inpatient hospital services provided by PASD, and enters the information in LSS.
Assigns CPT-4 codes for procedure pre-certifications. -
Communicates with Coding and Compliance Manager any patterns/problems with
information supplied by physicians regarding specificity of diagnoses, any problems
regarding outpatient charges, and any patterns in errors made in physician coding.
Identifies and copies pertinent information from the patient's chart. -
Retrieves medical records for onsite review. -
Verify accuracy of ICD-9/CPT-4 procedure documented by clinic staff for outpatient
clinic services and enters the information into LSS.
