POSITION SUMMARY
- This position is responsible for leading and developing Test Strategies, Test Project Plans, Unit/Functional/Regression Test Plans, Test Procedures and Test Cases/Scripts for newly developed functionality. This position is also responsible for conducting Unit/Functional/Regression Testing of recently developed software programs and working with Development to resolve issues.
- Application of Automated Testing Tools: Responsible for development and execution of Functional and/or Performance Testing Automated test scripts. This position is also responsible for working with New Product Development to assure Product Test coverage, performance and expansion of automated test suites.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Automation Specific:/Performance Testing
- Experience in creating high level performance test plans, detailed test cases and performance testing scripts.
- Proficiency in creating and implementing various types of performance tests including Load, Stress and Scalability testing.
- Experience in performance testing of web applications and database Servers like Oracle, SQL, DB2.
- Experience working with Weblogic, WebSphere, Tomcat and JBoss platforms.
- Hands on working with Linux, J2EE and JVM systems.
- Experience with performance test tools such as LoadRunner, Performance Center and Rational Robot.
- Analysis and debugging skills required to create detailed Performance Assessment and benchmark documents

Automation Specific:/Functional Automation Testing
- Mentor team members on automation tasks as necessary
- Being able to lead automation tasks with a project
- Being able design a solid automation framework where test scripts are reusable and easily maintained
- Create and communicate programming standards to team members
- 5+ years of programming experience
- Self-motivated with a Lead by example attitude
- Define, design, develop, execute and review automated and manual tests
- Promote the automation benefits

Functional and Automation:
- In-depth understanding of Software Testing Methodology (Agile/Scrum) which includes Test Planning, Test Coverage (BDD), Unit Test Development (Cucumber/Groovy), Functional Test Development, Test Execution, Test Triage, Fix Verification, Regression, Upgrade and Dataload Testing
- Attend Design Reviews to gain understanding of functionality in order to develop and execute testing tasks and responsibilities.
- Provide recommendation/feedback on Product and Customer Specifications to Project Manager's and Developers regarding functionality.
- Ability to develop Test Strategies, Unit/Functional/Regression Test Plans for Certifications (Using BDD, Gherkin, Cucumber, and Java/Groovy)
- Ability to coordinate testing efforts across all areas of Testing Department (Performance, Security, and Functional)
- Unit/Functional Test Development: Develop Test Strategies (BDD/Gherkin), Test Cases/Scripts (Cucumber) and Test Data for new product functionality and/or customer requests from Requirements/Specifications
- Test Execution: Triage Automated Tests. Conduct Functional, Regression, Upgrade and Localization testing to assure Functionality is working as expected.
- Data Load/Conversion Testing: Conduct test execution on specific customer data and databases as directed
- Ability to conduct, monitor and provide feedback to others for Unit/Functional/Regression Test Execution
- Problem Research and Error Isolation: Conduct analysis of testing results/failures. Prepare and submit detailed problem reports for correction. Work with development staff to resolve issues.
- Fix Verification/Impact Analysis: Verify problems reported during testing are working as designed. Verify no further regressions are caused by the fix.
- Responsible for communicating with QA Team Lead and QA Analyst's on test progress/status in a timely manner
- Able to estimate time and resource needs for testing projects to include test coverage, test development, test execution, fix verification, data import validation and delivery. Track time Estimated, Scheduled and Actuals for projects and resources.
- Develop high and in-depth Product Knowledge and develop Subject Matter Expertise. Able to access impact of changes through our product and determine test coverage needed.
- Ability to work with Team Leads and Scheduling Coordinator for customer priorities, escalated items and to meet project completion dates with acceptable levels of software quality
- Assist Project Managers and Development Teams to resolve and test issues encountered in customers Production and User Acceptance Testing Environments
- Take part in Service Team conference calls to obtain needed data if necessary and able to work with Service Team directly
- Analyze Customer Build Rejection Levels and Reasons. Expand test coverage, test documentation and test execution accordingly.
- Able to identify and implement solutions for listed Products, Process and Testing improvements.
- Produce process and procedure documentation
- Other duties as directed by Test Lead, Supervisor and/or Management
- Able to work hours outside the normal business hours on occasion

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: BS degree with an emphasis in CS/MIS/CIS highly desirable

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
- Understanding of Software Development and Testing Methodologies (specifically Agile/Scrum/BDD/TDD)
- Must have the ability to develop Test Procedures, Test Plans and Test Strategies for overall Team advancement (specifically using the tools of Gherkin/Cucumber/Groovy)
- Must be willing to spend the time necessary to achieve and maintain a high level of understanding of Thomson Reuters Products and Customer Change Requests

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- 2-3 years of experience in developing tests and test data for software systems
- 2 -3 years of experience in test execution of software systems
- Experience working with Stakeholders regarding information gathering and problem identification
- Experience in an agile environment, preferably scrum

SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and consistent follow-through to assure problems are resolved and Product meet established Quality Release Criteria Standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to communicate with individuals with all levels of technical and non-technical skill sets (ie Test Managers, Developers, Project Managers and external Customers)
- Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Excellent communication and people skills essential
- Good listening skills; problem solving and the ability to handle multiple projects/clients at once is necessary
- Ability to demonstrate initiative for identifying problems, determining solutions, suggesting and implementing Process and Testing improvements
- The ability to handle objections and counter professionally as necessary
