Primary Responsibilities
The individual in this role functions as a Regulatory Affairs and Technical Standards Project Manager who has business unit level influence and is generally recognized as a subject matter expert within the CTS hardgoods business unit. The individual's expertise can cut building materials, consumer products from appliances, hand tools and power tools within the Do It Yourself (DIY) retail sector.
In this function, the individual combines knowledge of scientific, regulatory and business issues to provide services that enable our clients to develop manufacture and sell products that comply with applicable legislation and standards.
Responsible for the development and performance of technical support activities within hardgoods, building materials and Do It Yourself (DIY) sectors business unit.
The person is responsible for driving effective and professional relationships, integration and utilization within US and global CTS Sales, Client Services and Operations.
Participates in the planning and implementation of technical programs, collaborates with management in establishing long range planning of the department's objectives and deliverables.
Delivers effective and efficient technical support to FF lab Operations and Client Service teams in line with company's financial objectives, mission and values.
Responsible for effectively maintaining and providing regulatory, technical standards, and quality and safety requirements to appropriate staff and client base.

Consumer Testing Services

Specific responsibilities
Develop product safety and quality specifications to capture regulatory and industry standards requirements for consumer products including consumer household appliances, DIY Products, Materials.
Provides hands on training to client services staff for product assessment to determine the applicable regulatory and quality compliance needs.
Conducts regulatory and standards training sessions for all levels of staff to build and impact their technical capabilities in terms of product safety and quality testing and inspection.
Develops technical SOPs incorporating customer requirements and communicating with supporting product documentation to executing teams in operations and client service departments.
Monitor industry advances in materials analysis and instrumentation for implementation in lab when appropriate.
Facilitates communication of new requirements to various departments about new or emerging regulatory requirements and or technical standards.
Manages special projects by developing appropriate project plan and coordinate necessary activities across multiple labs for execution in order to meet customer requirements and expectations

Profile
Extensive knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards relating to a variety of consumer products in the US, Canada and preferably EU.
Experience reviewing technical documents, specifications and standards.
Exposure to various engineering disciplines and the ability to recognize when decisions in one area will affect other areas.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all departments within the organization. Must be an extensive multi-tasker, and problem solver with high energy levels and strong organizational abilities.

Skills
Masters level education with 5-10 years experience or Bachelor's level education with 10-15 years experience
Experience in building materials and tools testing required
Strong written and spoken English skills, other languages will be an advantage.
Ability to handle multiple competing priorities across departments and operating units through effective resource management. Strong project management skills required.
Proficient in Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, and Outlook).
