This position provides operation ownership for Fruit Operations, including Fruit Receiving, Fruit Processing, Feed Mill and for maintenance support of these areas and the Juice Distribution and Storage areas. This position is responsible for receiving and processing of all oranges arriving in Bradenton. This position is expected to perform these functions while maintaining cost expectations, solid labor relations and supporting all company initiatives.



  • Administer company policies, procedures and the collective bargaining agreement within the department and plant

  • Monitor product quality to ensure it meets company standards

  • Coordinate with outside vendors

  • Coordinate with other company agencies and departments as needed on production issues

  • Assist in improving reliability and operating efficiencies of all departments

  • Coach and develop all supervisory and hourly employees to achieve superior performance and enhance employee growth and development

  • Problem solve issues as they arise

  • Manage and administer cost reduction/cost control initiatives

Requirements:



Education:



  • Bachelor's Degree: Food Science, Mechanical or related Engineering field

    Experience:

  • 8 - 10 years of production management experience in a consumer products (preferably food or beverage) manufacturing environment (or related field)

  • 5 - 7 years of demonstrated increased responsibility in supervisory, management or comparable leadership positions




Knowledge and Skill Requirements:



  • Knowledge of microbiological concerns of a food grade product

  • Knowledge of USDA, FDA, EPA, ISO, HAACP, HAZMAT, regulations, operating procedures and OSHA/VPP safety requirements

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to all levels of the organization

  • Ability to lead, motivate and coach a diverse and inclusive work force

  • Strong interpersonal, facilitation and team building abilities

  • Proficiency with PC software

  • Ability to develop, administer and manage budgets

  • Ability to function in a unionized environment

  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to an ever changing environment

  • Must be able to develop a long term (3 - 5 year) organizational operating vision/plan related to business needs and objectives that will enable the department to achieve superior results
