Posted Position Title: Lead Software Engineer Career Level: Experienced Function: Engineering/Technology Function Segment: Applications and Software Location: United Kingdom U.S. State, China or Canada Provinces: City: Oxfordshire Postal Code: OX11 0RG Relocation Assistance: No Role Summary/Purpose: Reporting to the MAPS Head of Software Engineering Design, the successful applicant will be responsible for the design, coding, testing and configuration of MAPS software products. Support will be provided from the physics and electronics & mechanical teams.

The software design tasks are diverse, including the development of device level drivers, hardware control applications, data handling, database design, coding of physics models and GUI development. Essential Responsibilities: We are looking for a C++ programmer, with a good degree who is looking to take the next career step. Ideally, they would have a strong background in software engineering and system design.

Key skills

• Degree (or HND or similar, with suitable experience) in IT, physics, science or engineering subject
  
• Experience in programming C++
  
• Experience in program design and testing
  
• Experience of efficient user interface design and implementation using Qt 4
  
• Demonstrable ability to apply Object Oriented Design principles
  
• Cross-platform development experience
  
• Familiarity with all stages of the product life cycle
  
• Ability to write clean, efficient & well-structured code
  
• Unit testing and profiling of code
  
• Writing specifications and test plans
  
• Can work alone or as part of a team
  
• Legally entitled to work in UK on a permanent basis
  
• Written and oral communication skills
  
• Clean UK driving licence.
