Description:
The Mission System Integration Operations of SAIC is currently seeking a Software Systems Engineer for our Kihei, Hi location.
The successful candidate will serve as the User and Technology Services Lead and will provide systems engineering and integration support, Unix systems administration, test plan development and execution, technical planning, software systems integration, verification and validation, and supportability and effectiveness for multiple systems and task orders. As a senior member of the team, the candidate will help guide technology strategies for assigned task orders and systems.
Candidate will interact on a daily basis with all levels of personnel, with system users from several research organizations. Candidate will be called upon to apply advanced systems engineering expertise in support of the program; R&D technology projects; systems integration projects; problem determination initiatives; performance optimization studies; and systems security.
Major duties include configuration, deployment and tuning of large HPC Linux clusters, schedulers, operating systems, a batch queuing environment, high-speed interconnects, high-performance storage systems, and hierarchical data storage implementations; development of new system implementation plans and acceptance testing procedures; maintaining relations with major High Performance Computing hardware and software vendors, and preparing technical reports, conducting customer requirements analyses, and supporting preparation of proposals and technical sections of contracts.
Candidate will also manage the User and Technology support functions and supervise the following staff:
Help Desk Lead; Visualization Lead; Webmaster/Web Site/Portal Support; Sr. Applications Engineer - Training; and Desktop and PC Support Administrators
Supervisory responsibilities include staff mentoring and development, reviewing performance, providing work assignments, and providing technical guidance in systems administration, networking, web-site development, problem determination and resolution, and basic computer security.
Qualifications:
Candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline and 9+ years' experience. Advanced degree preferred.
Candidate must have several years of supervisory and management experience.
Candidate must have expert knowledge of UNIX systems deployment, tuning, testing, troubleshooting, and integration in a high-performance computing environment.
Additional requirements include good verbal and written communication skills and a proficiency in computer applications, languages, technologies, advanced set-up and configurations, troubleshooting, and system design.
