Vehicle Engineering and Integration Test Administrator

Overview:

. The Vehicle Engineering and Integration Test Administrator works in conjunction with Integration and Test engineers to perform pneumatics and avionics checkouts for the 1st Stage of the Falcon 9 rocket. The battery of tests conducted, certifies the rocket is integrated properly and are the initial gating items to a successful test and launch campaign. This position requires working directly with flight hardware to verify integrity and produce a quality launch vehicle at a high rate.

Responsibilities:

. Manages Testing Schedule and Equipment across all areas of responsibility

. Assists in the design and fabrication of test fixtures and test setups

. Develops and documents Test Procedures with Test Engineers and Test Technicians

. Subject matter expert on test equipment and test execution

. Train all personnel involved in testing on how to setup and conduct tests

. Maintains test hardware to ensure test-readiness to include calibrated components and equipment checkouts

. Conducts and Supervises tests with engineers and technicians according to test procedures

. Provides preliminary data and test results

. Provides training for area supervisors to ensure that all requirements for testing are met and continues to monitor overall area test readiness.

. Facilitates manufacturing, materials purchasing, assists in design, and manages all 1st Issue required Test Equipment for all responsible areas

. Conducts GSE audits developing potential shortfalls with maintenance schedules and evolutional testing.

. Conducts pressurized tests to verify the functionality and integrity of various Stage 1 propulsion and electrical systems at both the subsystem and vehicle integration level

. Composes test plans and procedures related to test readiness and testing

. Interface with Production engineers and technicians to develop procedures & policies to hand off test responsibilities to production entities.

. Manage work orders and issue tickets into actionable items and system improvements

. Analyze test data and develop appropriate interpretation strategy for remote acceptance

Basic Qualifications:

. High school diploma or GED required

. 5+ years of experience operating and testing avionics, hydraulic, and/or pneumatic systems

. Experience with aircraft, spacecraft, rocketry or similar integration and test operations

. Experience managing inventories of equipment and tools

Preferred Skills and Experience:

. Experience working in a fast-paced environment where complex operations must be performed in a time critical fashion with high quality

. Knowledge of and experience with hydraulic and pneumatic actuators, valves, regulators and other pressurized components

. Experience running tests with LabView

. Experience designing schematics using Visio (Or other similar products)

. Experience with avionics or electrical systems

. Leadership and experience, specifically managing small teams of technicians

. Airframe and Powerplant license

. Experience with Spacecraft integration, test or launch operations

. Technical degree from an accredited college or university

. Soldering experience with Gold, Copper, Zinc, and Aluminum

. Experience with proper ESD reduction practices

. Experience as a Safety Supervisor or Site Manager

. Experience with Stainless Steel and Titanium Tube Bending

. Knowledge of production efficiency dealing with quality standards and practices

. Must have significant amount of experience in conducting procedures from a manual or publication

Additional Requirements:

. Ability to travel to different sites, as needed. Up to 5% travel.

. Must be able to work all shifts and available for overtime and weekends as needed

. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs unassisted

. Must be able to perform functions with great dexterity

. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time

. Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl and maneuver in tight spaces

. Comfortable working complex operations in some high stress environments with delicate hardware and on a strict schedule

. Comfortable working in confined spaces

. High functioning communication skills

. The ability to adopt and generate new skills as test procedures change and areas of responsibility grow

. Must be able to practice observing Cleanroom protocols and operational procedures
