Position Description:

Houston Staff Counsel is seeking a Managing Attorney for its insurance defense litigation practice.
The office handles a multitude of business lines, including general Casualty, Professional Liability and Medical Malpractice Litigation. in a multitude of counties surrounding both Houston and San Antonio TX

Key responsibilities include:
Complete oversight of the office, including intake of files, continual file reviews, and providing guidance, mentoring and development of Attorneys within the office.
Handling of partial case load including trials.
Ensure delivery of quality legal representation and service to clients and claims.
Responsibility for identifying training needs of staff, and partnering with the Claims' organization to provide training to Claims.
Ensure the office budget is balanced; overseeing and monitoring expenditures and
billing requirements
Manager is also responsible for preparing monthly reports and being the office representative with home office. The Managing Attorney may also handle all or part of a caseload, from inception through trial.

Position Requirements
Minimum 10 years experience handling casualty and professional liability litigation.

Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and be admitted to practice law in the State of TX

Candidate should have at least 5 years of Supervisory experience, to include responsibility for personnel and financial oversight .

Candidate should have experience handling complex litigation, from inception through trial.

Excellent computer skills, including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word/outlook/excel.

Exceptional analytical, communication and presentation skills.

Ability to review and analyze financial data.
