Position : Tempering Supervisor Location: Houston, TX

Reports To : Plant Manager Industry: Building Materials

Compensation : $60,000 -$75,000 Base

Basic Function:

They are currently looking for a Tempering Supervisor. This person will be responsible for supervising production and/or maintenance employees to facilitate the maximum utilization of equipment and workforce to meet production requirements. The incumbent has primary responsibility for the efficient allocation of all personnel and material resources within or in support of the production operations in assigned area. This includes the flow of raw glass for cutting, edging, and drilling; the storage and transportation of cut-not-tempered parts; and the screening, forming and tempering as well as the inspection and packing of finished parts.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure efficiency of production while preserving the integrity and quality of products.
  • Maintains a safe and productive working environment and provides supervision of associates.
  • Ensure efficiency and production by sampling and inspecting finished product.
  • Ensure that equipment and machinery are functioning properly.
  • Maintains a safe and productive working environment by maintaining and repairing equipment; realigning production lines as necessary
  • Providing safety training for associates and monitoring the checklist.
  • Supervises associates by assigning work schedules
  • Monitor and control labor hours with respect to fluctuating workload
  • Provide counseling to resolve issues and monitor work activities.
  • Performs other duties such as completing various reports; paperwork and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Candidates must possess a bachelor degree (especially in a technical field such as Engineering), maintenance experience or past military leadership, are highly preferred.
  • Minimum of two year of Glass Tempering experience is highly preferred.
  • Successful candidates must have prior supervisory experience and strong leadership skills.
  • Must be willing to work rotating shifts and weekends as needed.
  • The incumbent must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills in problem-solving, leadership, team-building and written and verbal communications as well as possess the ability to assess priorities and act decisively.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish verbal communication skills are a plus.
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge and experience are a plus.
