Our client is searching for an senior level Software/Lead Engineer to join their team and work from an office location in Cedar Rapids, IA.
In this position, you'll become part of the software team and help create the next generation of cargo systems products. As part of this team, you will help apply new technologies to existing aircraft as well as the creation of new products to meet the ever-changing needs of today's modern cargo systems. These systems are used by the pilot and crew for mission planning and execution on military cargo ships.
The selected candidate will be involved in all phases of the software engineering life cycle; requirements capture, Real Time design and development, subsystem integration and verification, systems test, integration and troubleshooting and documentation development in support of certification requirements.
Some of the other things you'll be doing:
* Design and implement the overall SW structure of the project
* Implement the SW tools that will be used for development and test
* Coordinate the development and maintenance of detailed cost and schedule estimates for the project
* Full software development life cycle experience, for RTCA DO-178B Level A.
* Develop and maintain a detailed project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
* Identify, categorize, and avert/explore project risks and opportunities (risk management)
* Identify and manage the critical path activities on the project
* Implement and manage change control to the project scope and baseline
* Perform all activities in accordance with the organizations policies and procedures
* Use previous customer experience in mechanical based cargo systems to design a new processor based system.
* Coordinate and design the tools and infrastructure to implement model-based development.
What you need:
* 6+ years of experience in the Aerospace/Avionics industry, with some software lead and architecture background and experience
* 4-year Electronics, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science degree
* A thorough understanding of and experience with the DO-178B level A development process is a must for this position.
* Must have effective oral and written technical communication skills, as well as good interpersonal and small team skills
* Experience in capturing and analyzing software requirements
* Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills
* Ability to prepare and present project/technical information to peers
* Avionics System/subsystem integration and test experience
* Familiarity with military cargo aircraft
* Have specific knowledge of Quality procedures and processes
* Ability to coordinate all aspects of the project and complex engineering activities while flexibly balancing priorities and schedules.
A big plus:
* Experience with ARINC protocols
* Active or recent US Government Security Clearance
