Itron is offering a career opportunity to the right individual who has progressively made their mark in Embedded software development arena and is in the process of taking their career to the next level...an R&D Embedded Engineer Manager. This is an opportunity to join a group where Embedded design and development plays an integral role in the company's success within servicing the smart grid industry by means of cellular networks. You will lead a team of Embedded developers through the design and production of various products by leaning on your recent Project Management and Product Design experience while interacting with numerous personnel in a matrixed environment with various technical and non-technical personnel.

Responsibilities
- Lead the design of firmware using C/C++ and Kernel level development in a Linux and RTOS environments.
- Analyze technical requirements documents and propose implementation solutions
- Design code to meet the requirements of industry standards and specifications
- Document design and implementation of new features
- Present and participate in peer reviews of design documents
- Present innovative ideas for product and process improvement
- Lead and direct larger groups of engineers up to 10 to 15 personnel
- Work with Product Management, Architects, and Systems Engineers to define, schedule and develop products and solutions.
- Work with other technical managers to take a product through the development life cycle.
- Work with project and program managers to create, maintain and present product schedules, risks, and status.

Experience REQUIRED:
- Expertise in C/C++ Embedded development
- Ten (10) or more years of related experience in Embedded software/firmware
- Recent experience in Project Management
- Recent experience in product development
- Experience in developing low-cost high-volume high-reliability products
- Excellent oral and written communications skills combined with the ability to effectively communicate technical issues
- Good understanding of hardware interfaces and controls
- Experience with working with off-shore teams

PREFERRED:
- Experience with Linux application development and Scripting
- Experience with Linux Kernel development
- Experience with RTOS
- Experience with telecommunications protocols
- Experience with Linux distribution OpenEmbedded and TimeSys
- Project Management experience and/or PMP certification
- Product Life Cycle and Product Management focused.
- Experience with contracts, and license agreements.
- Experience with GPL.
- Experience with Nucleus RTOS
- Experience in automated metering or the utility industry in general
- Experience with one or more of the following wireless technologies: LTE, EVDO/1xRTT/CDMA and/or HSPA/EDGE/GPRS.
- Understanding of Rational Tool Suite
- Understanding with GitHub, Jenkins Integration Server, TFS, and GCC.
- Experience with Embedded security for M2M
- Experience in Linux virtualization

Education: Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
Certification(s): PMP desired
Travel: 25%
