Itron is looking for a Principal Systems Architect to work in our fast paced development department requiring agile thinking, deep development experience, large system design experience, quick problem comprehension and excellent communications skills. The primary focus of this role will be to lead the design of Itron products to manage, monitor and configure remote devices over wireless networks, which include such components as hardware, firmware, software and networks.

The Principal Systems Architect will design and build solutions, mentor, and work closely with the team to ensure functional, performance, availability, and stability requirements of the solution are met. The Principal Architect will also provide technical expertise to the professional services teams as it pertains to the implementation of Itron products. Additionally this person may provide follow-up support to company product marketing teams and customer personnel by disseminating technical information for specific Itron products and ensures that the solution is functioning according to specifications.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Designs complex systems/solutions to meet product specifications.
- Analyzes user requirements, procedures, and problems to improve Itron products to meet the product roadmaps and requirements.
- Follow and drive the Itron Engineering processes and methodologies.
- Ideal candidate should have good knowledge of complex systems/solutions to design frameworks, processes, generate valid requirements to meet product specifications.
- Acts as an advisor and proposes changes based on analysis of requirements and new technology.
- Design and drives the solutions to ensure compatibility with Itron products and other applications to solve customer business needs.
- Ensure Itron solutions meet the quality, performance, scale and security standards demanded by smart grid Industry.
- Provides technical direction and design approval for Itron solutions.

Required Skills/Experience:

This position requires a minimum of 8 years of total experience in design and development, but most recently focused on the architectural design of enterprise scalable applications and Embedded devices. Must have strong relational database and experience using programming languages such as Java, C#, C++, and C. Experience with design and development

Methodologies and processes, excellent verbal and written communications are required. This position requires experience designing complex systems/solutions comprised of hardware, firmware, software and networks. It also requires extensive wireless networking knowledge including cellular, ZigBee, and WiFi.

Education: Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
