We are looking for a Full time Component Engineer at our headquarters in the greater Kansas City area. in this role you will be responsible for creating specification control drawings for component parts used in state of the art electronics products. Other essential functions include:

Work closely with Engineering, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, and suppliers on all component issues

Perform or facilitate failure analysis for failed components (design, production, or field failures)

Work with suppliers to resolve component issues by identifying "root cause" and implementing permanent solutions

Perform component evaluations and qualifications

Work with design teams to ensure the use of high quality, high reliability, cost effective components in new designs

Provide component level expertise and consulting to Design Engineers

Create and maintain parametric data to support component selection for design engineering

Actively manage non-preferred parts out of circulation to prevent future design useQualified candidates possess an Associate's Degree in Electronic Technology or above equivalent experience. Other requirements include:

Must possess a minimum of 2 years' experience in electronics with experience in component level design and/or troubleshooting

Has a working knowledge of all electronic component types

Is proficient at using PC systems and related software applications

A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET) from a four-year college or university or higher education, working knowledge of all electronic component types, AutoCAD or other Computer Aided Design (CAD) experience, electronic component purchasing experience, experience in statistical methods, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), International Standards Organization (ISO) 9000, quality standards and best practices, familiarity with Electronics Industrial Association (EIA), American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Military Standards (MIL-STD), and other industry standards, strong understanding of electronic manufacturing processes, particularly Surface Mount Technology (SMT), strong understanding of various component manufacturing processes, proficient troubleshooting and "bench skills", and general knowledge of physics and chemistry are highly preferred!
