Description:
Purpose of the Position: Support Army recruiting efforts by leading the Operations and database department. Also, responsible for maintaining the development, test, training and production environments to ensure the smooth operations of all systems.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Unix systems administration
- Solaris 9 & 10 operations and user management
- Conducts or participates in multidisciplinary research.
- Collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development and utilization of electronic data processing systems software.
- Determines computer user needs; advises hardware designers on machine characteristics that affect software systems such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
- Responsible for all batch programs running correctly and provides 24 hour support to production environment.
- Responsible for upgrades to the latest technology or conducting new hardware research studies.
- Responsible for coordinating system changes with system administrators and ensuring all security patches have been applied to all environments.
- Updates and provides project documentation as needed.
- Responsible for adhering to Quality Management System.
- Operations Systems Management
- Administers software releases, patches, and user permissions
- Candidate should be able to manage releases of various software along CRON jobs.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and minimum of 8 years experience or Associates and 9 years of experience required.
- Unix server administration.
- Experience with full life cycle development and multi-tier architectures.
- General database knowledge.
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff members, customers, and management.
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
- CompTIA Security+ certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Oracle desired.
Must be able to obtain an Interim Secret clearance. Must have a Security+ certification prior to starting.
