Description:

SAIC is seeking a self motivated engineer to support the SAIC Networks and Mission Command Division. The intent of this requisition is to fill a direct position working with a team of SAIC and government engineers providing network systems development and integration expertise of Army Network Enabled Mission Command systems. We require an electrical engineer with RF background and strong experience in wireless network design, development and integration. A strong candidate should have led wireless network system related projects for government or commercial customers as well as have in-depth knowledge of wireless network standards and mobile ad hoc network systems.

The wireless network engineer will be responsible for leading design and development of computer and network systems with focus on radio and network engineering. Projects will include architecture and design of network systems using COTS hardware such as radios, Routers, Switches and Wireless LAN components. These will require in-depth knowledge of wireless LAN protocols including 802.11x and 802.16. A strong candidate should have experience in Embedded network systems and knowledge of mobile ad hoc networking protocols. The candidate should have worked with Linux and Android-based systems. The engineer will work with software and system engineers on projects that involve Linux/Android networking, network and system performance analysis and networked system testing.

The wireless network engineer will support research, design, and development of computer and network systems; analyze requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. Formulates and designs network systems, using scientific analysis and models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design. A successful candidate in lead technical role should be able to develop a project plan, manage resources and execute the plan. The candidate will also support responses to government RFI and RFPs.

A strong candidate should have strong initiative, be able to learn new skills and technologies quickly, and feel comfortable working within a fast-paced, multidiscipline, and highly collaborative environment. The ability to analyze communications shortfalls and customer requirements, and conceptualize solutions architectures is highly desired. Excellent oral and communications skills are needed.

US citizenship and the ability to obtain a secret clearance are required.

Qualifications:
Education: Advanced degree is highly preferred

Required Skills:

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

- 10 years professional experience

- Technical lead for networking projects

- RF and wireless communications knowledge and experience

- Networking skills with experience in radios, Routers, Switches or Wireless LAN hardware

- Knowledge of 802.11x and/or 802.16

- Programming, Scripting experience in Linux and Android environments

- Excellent oral and written communications skills

Desired Skills:

- Knowledge of military communications networks, wireless sensor or dismount soldier networks

- Technical lead in Military or DARPA projects, especially research & development projects

- Mobile ad hoc networking protocols expertise

- Embedded network systems

- Secure communications within Embedded network wireless systems
