First Level Systems Engineer
Overview
Level 1 Support is responsible for triage, troubleshooting, resolution and escalation as per service levels and documentation. Candidate will be responsible for providing first level support in the management, monitoring and control of the TR Services as defined by the responsibilitis of the Team. The position will involve shift work, covering services provided globaly on a 12x7x365 basis.
Responsibilities
- To ensure that business critical task checklists are followed and that all scheduled events are completed correctly in a timely and efficient manner
- To ensure correct referral and escalation of such issues
- To ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the Quality Management System operated in the respective site
- To identify and report deficiencies in systems, services and procedures, and ensure that corrective actions identified are completed
- To produce routine daily logs, exception reports and to produce reports on major service incidents
- To carry out scheduled system software and hardware upgrades as directed through the Change Management System
- To liaise with internal and external customers answering queries and resolving service issues in a timely and professional manner
- To ensure that customers and respective helpdesks receive timely and accurate advice of service problems
- To ensure personal awareness of and adherence to established Incident Management and Problem Management procedures

Qualifications
Preferred Skills
- Excellent working knowledge/experience of Solaris/Linux or Microsoft Server Operating Systems
- Excellent working knowledge/experience of Microsoft Office, Internet Protocols, and networking techologies.
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem solving skills with emphasis on both process and technology to solve business problems.
- Demonstrated ability to work at both conceptual and detailed levels.
- Creative thinker with ability to think outside the box.
- Excellent interpersonal, consulting, and relationship management skills.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills to clearly document and communicate with other groups globally.

Desired Skills
- Experience of UNIX, NT, VMS, Teradata, TCP/IP and Internet Technology would be an advantage
- Excellent understanding of ITIL process with appropriate fundamental accreditation
- Exposure to Netcool , Formula or similar monitoring tools
- Exposure to Windows Administration
- Worked in a global support environment and interaction with US and European customers
- Must be flexible, self-motivated, and have a "can-do" attitude
- Be driven and committed to the goals and objectives of the team and organization as a whole
- Must have minimum knowledge and understanding of financial markets
