BASIC FUNCTION:
The Java Developer III designs, codes and tests software as a part of the software development team responsible for building and maintaining the RightThingRecruit and ADP/Recruit products.

The Java Developer III interprets the requirements of internal and external customers, including business analysts, to build appropriate software. He or she also analyzes and investigates problems that have been reported by clients and internal users, including QA analysts, documents the results of their investigations and creates value-added solutions.

In addition, the Java Developer III participates in the development of tactical plans associated with product development and is responsible for the timely development of systemic solutions for changes to projects and products that are critical to revenue growth and client retention.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Designs, codes and tests software using technologies, techniques, and tools to ensure high quality, performance, and reliability, at high levels of complexity.
- Following department coding standards, writing well documented programs that perform effectively and efficiently.
- Performs system analysis and design in accordance with established procedures and policies. Provides accurate estimate of time needed to complete work.
- Performs comprehensive testing to verify program accuracy and reliability. Helps establish procedures for developing test plans.
- Leads specification, design, code, and test reviews, at high levels of complexity.
- Provides extensive support for specification, design, testing, deployment, documentation, and production.
- Modifies existing applications with a minimum of program specifications. Investigates, analyzes, and resolves problems with programs.
- Creates tests and performs tests to ensure programs perform according to specifications.
- Leads design and code reviews.
- Investigates and corrects production problems.
- Has expert knowledge of assigned applications, systems, and programming standards.
- Provides timely and accurate reporting to the manager.
- Creates appropriate documentation according to policies and procedures that will indicate progress to plan, solutions, alternatives, etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned

Experience (5+ years) professional software engineering with all the following expertise:
- Expert knowledge of Java and its class libraries
- Good working knowledge of at least one additional language and platform
- Expert understanding of data structures and algorithms
- Expert knowledge of Java/JSP web architecture design and development tools and languages
- Mastery of object-oriented concepts
- Reading knowledge of static and dynamic object models using a standard modelling language.
- Expert knowledge of analysis and design patterns.
- Design abilities at the class and interface level.
- Extensive experience using configuration management and control and associated tools.
- Extensive SQL expertise

Education:
Bachelors in Computer Science, Engineering or comparable degree. Advanced degree preferred. Will consider experience in lieu of degree
