Description
- Establish and utilize appropriate in vivo and ex vivo models of metabolic diseases, diabetic kidney disease and or fibrosis to support drug discovery, and develop novel approaches as appropriate.
- Collaborate closely with scientists in the relevant therapeutic areas to implement drug discovery activities.
- Participate in target reviews and target identification in the above described areas. Present scientific data to internal audiences.
- Evaluate the literature to apply state-of-the-art scientific methods and knowledge to drug discovery.
Qualifications
EDUCATION PREFERRED: B.S. or B.S./M.S. YEARS OF EXPERIENCE PREFERRED: At least 5 years of experience beyond academic training, and pharmaceutical industry experience required.
- Knowledge and experience related to the use of relevant in vivo and ex vivo models to evaluate metabolic diseases, diabetic kidney disease and or fibrosis in one or more organs; additionally, pathology experience highly desirable.
- Working understanding of glucose control, insulin resistance, beta cell function, and diabetic kidney disease.
- Knowledge and experience related to the drug discovery process
- Demonstrated success in working in matrixed, multidisciplinary drug discovery teams.
- Demonstrated excellence in both written and oral communication as well as data handling and statistical methods.
- Demonstrated commitment to scientific excellence and scientific rigor.
