Health, Safety Environmental Mr-Early Management Implementation

This position leads the implementation of HSE early management (EM) processes across Pepsi America Beverages (PAB). As a member of the PBC Division HSE team, this role performs targeted HSE EM reviews for large projects and initiatives that have broad impact within the PAB organization. In addition, the manager works with HSE regional and facility managers to complete similar reviews for facility-specific capital and innovation projects. The incumbent leverages existing HSE EM standards, tools, and processes to assure consistent early integration and application of HSE risk management principles throughout the life-cycle of projects and R&D initiatives

Major Tasks, Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Lead health, safety and environmental project reviews for new/changed equipment, lines and processes.


• Define action plans to address HSE impacts identified during project design, construction and installation.


• Work with Engineering and HSE teams to execute actions against identified HSE risks from project design reviews.


• Identify and lead contract resources to assist in machinery equipment assessment for conformance with the PepsiCo Machinery & Equipment Safety Standard.


• Develop and deliver HSE Early Management training and learning programs


• Participate with project engineers in design reviews and factory acceptance testing at machine manufacturer sites.


• Meet periodically with Engineering resources to understand innovation captial projects that are planned for implemenation, to anticipate potential risks and provide input on HSE Risk ID/Control budgetary impacts to these projects.


• Participate in project pre-start-up safety reviews and train facility personnel on how to conduct such reviews.


• Develop and maintain an expert understanding of PAB's Machine Safety Standard and applicable U.S. and international machine safety, robotic safety, electrical safety, and risk assessment consensus standards.


• Establish and maintains tracking systems/tools to stay fully aware of the status of HSE risk control installation on capital projects in each PAB Regions and at each facility.


• Meet periodically with Regional HSE resources to review local projects and needs.

Basic Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree


• Five+ years of work experience in the Health, Safety & Environmental discipline


• Experience in leading HSE reviews for new equipment, lines and processes


• Broad understanding of health, safety and environmental regulations, risk assessment and risk control methodologies


• Experience interfacing with engineering and operations personnel to resolve HSE risks


• Ability to take technical requirements and communicate them to a broad audience


• Ability to travel approximately 25%

Preferred Job Qualifications::

• CSP/CIH or qualification to sit for certification


• Safety, Engineering, or Science degree.


• Skill in reading and interpreting design drawings
