Essential Responsibilities:
As a Senior Electronics Cooling Researcher, you will have primary responsibility for leading heat transfer and fluid dynamics research and development projects for a range of GE products, including Embedded computers, LED's, medical equipment, avionics, subsea power equipment, consumer electronics, and power electronics. The candidate will also be responsible for providing vision to the company in these technologies.
As a Senior Electronics Cooling Researcher, you will:
- Provide senior technical expertise and innovation in the fields of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and electronics thermal management/packaging.
- Participate in identifying, planning and developing conceptual designs for electronics cooling experiments and analyses.
- Guide and implement experiments and analyses to acquire high-quality, state-of-the-art heat transfer data.
- Communicate data results to counterparts in the research center and at the GE businesses.
- Collaborate with the GE businesses to implement inventions and improvements.
- Document results through patent applications, technical reports and publications.
- Mentor and inspire early-career people in the lab
Qualifications/Requirements: - Doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field of study with a minimum of 8 years experience in electronics cooling research.
- Explicit experience in all aspects of experimentation, including designing rigs and instrumentation, executing experiments and reducing data.
- Hands-on experience with sophisticated instrumentation, eg Particle Image Velocimetry, Laser Doppler Velocimetry and Infrared Thermography.
- Specific experiences in a relevant fluid dynamics and/or heat transfer experiment.
- In-depth understanding of conduction and convective heat transfer and fluid dynamics.
- Demonstrated project leadership experience, including successful track of completing deliverables on schedule and on budget
- Demonstrated team building and mentoring skills
- Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY
- Must be willing to take a drug test and submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process.
