Database Developer

This position is responsible for the database-centric solution development as well as database components of the design, building, maintenance and support of custom applications as well as data integrations of 3rd party products or systems. This hands-on role requires focused attention to detail so as to ensure that systems of high availability and scalability as needed by the organization and its business partners are fully functional and operating 24x7. 

This role requires the capability to respond and support the data projects in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to develop complete database solutions for a variety of business requirements and challenges. This role also requires the ability to communicate effectively with end-users, team members, management, and external customers.

FUNCTIONS:

• Work independently as well as in a team environment in the development, implementation, testing, deployment  and maintenance of complex systems with fast turn-around
• Perform product analysis and development tasks of increasingly complex nature which may require extensive research and analytical skills
• Provide detailed analysis of problems, prepare detailed design documents with recommendation
• Apply innovation, creativity and rigor to database development process and implement process and procedural improvements
• Work on multiple projects to provide adequate and proactive support for various business initiatives and applications
• Develops and manages effective working relationships with other departments, groups and personnel with whom work must be coordinated or interfaced
• Develops, tests, documents, and implements high quality database solutions on time that perform according to specifications and requirements documents
• Analyzes performance of programs and takes action to ensure accuracy and correct deficiencies
• Develop and adhere to development standards that allow for the maintainability of code in a manner that supports team development and apply best practices in design and development processes
• Provide a minimum of weekly status report updates for current projects to the supervising role in the Information Technology (IT) department
• Provide the troubleshooting and resolution of production support issues.
• Participate in various life cycle stages including architecture specifications and design, application configuration, database design, programming, quality assurance, testing and implementation, as well as maintenance and support of existing code base, solutions and reports
• Participate in the development and implementation of new business processes that improve efficiency and enhance productivity

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:  

•  B.S. in Computer Science or Information Systems, or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience

Experience:

• 8+ years experience as a database developer with expertise in database schema design, physical database implementation as well as script writing, batch processing, and report generation.
• 8+ years experience working closely with database administrator (DBA) in the design, implementation, tuning and maintenance of highly-available and high-volume transactional databases.
• 8+ years experience with database server products and development environments such as Microsoft SQL Server and Business Intelligence Development Studio with expertise with design and development of SSIS packages
• 8+ years experience with SQL/T-SQL programming in creation and optimization of stored procedures, triggers and user defined functions
• 5+ years experience with ETL processes in a data warehousing and data mart environment
• 5+ years experience with master data management in data migration and integration projects
• Able to interpret business requirements and programming specifications to write database programs that meet business requirements
• Significant exposure to and demonstrated proficiency in all aspects of database programming and analysis, including design factors, software requirements, systems facilities, and execution protocols
• Adequate knowledge of current .NET technologies (VB.NET/C#/ASP.NET)
• Adequate knowledge of current Microsoft Office products (Access/Excel/SharePoint)
