Systems Architect

SUMMARY

Under direction of the Sr. Director of Software Development, the Systems Architect is responsible for the overall architecture and design of transactional systems that meet business objectives and adhere to architecture and compliance guidelines. This position will work with both on and off-site development teams in communicating design goals and strategy, providing technical guidance, enforcing development standards, and performing hands-on coding support (approximately 25%of the time) to the area's core competence.

RESPONSIBILITIES

SYSTEMS ARCHITECTURE, DESIGN, AND DEVELOPMENT

- Provides leadership and technical oversight to both on and off-site development teams on the implementation of solutions ensuring adherence to architectural principles.
- Promotes architectural vision, strategy, and principles.
- Participates in the planning and implementation of the technical Enterprise Architecture, including both short and long term strategies for retiring certain Legacy systems, integrating existing systems, and recommendations for new systems implementation.
- Designs scalable, distributed web applications and web/windows services.
- Designs and develops critical framework components/reusable modules.
- Creates system prototypes.
- Provides delivery of high quality code (approximately 25%).
- Validates constructed code against unit test criteria.
- Conducts peer code and security code reviews.
- Coordinates development team deliverables to ensure quality release management into the QA and Production environments.
- Creates and delivers detailed technical presentations.
- Prepares and maintains complete programming specifications, functional design, and both high and detail level technical design documents.
- Reviews and provides sign-off on design documents and artifacts created by other engineers on the team.
- Maintains an ongoing awareness of emerging developments and trends in technology that could impact current projects and influence new projects.
- Leads the evaluation of software targeted for possible integration into our environments, including strategic applications, tools and utilities.
- Promotes and enforces established GDC coding standards and best practices.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

REQUIRED

- B.S. degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Minimum 10 years developing enterprise applications using the Microsoft platform.
Minimum 5 years in a Senior or Team Lead position making technology decisions at the implementation level.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft technologies: ASP.NET MVC, C#, WCF, WF, WPF, and IIS.
- Extensive experience with XML, XSLT, XSD/DTD, REST, SOAP, XHTML, JavaScript, JQuery, AJAX, and web services.
- Experience with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) in complex, heterogeneous environments.
- Experience designing large enterprise applications with enterprise workflow and business process integration components.
- Experience with deploying rich and/or web client applications in a high-availability, clustered environment.
- Experience with Legacy systems and phased application integration.
- Experience with logical data modelling and database stored procedure development.
- Experience in software life cycles, software configuration management, and change control.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong written, verbal, and diagrammatic communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work across the organization and interact/influence/negotiate effectively at all levels of management and peers.
- Superior planning skills with the ability to handle large work load, facilitate the activities of dynamic workgroups, and multi-task in a fast paced environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to change and willing to learn and develop new skill sets as applicable.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS DESIRED

- Banking and/or credit card systems (stored value systems) experience.

OTHER
