Job Title: SAP Basis Administrator
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The SAP Basis administration team is responsible for ensuring that the SAP environment landscape is running effectively. The Basis team is responsible for managing the DB2 data repository for SAP, the SAP graphical user interface (GUI), the software installation is properly configured, performance tuning the application to ensure it is properly interfacing with the server operating system, interfacing systems, and the database platform. The basis team is also responsible for supporting the development and test landscapes for SAP, and migrating code changes through the various test environments before the changes are released for production. The SAP Basis team also manages the bolt-on applications and many of the interfacing systems that are critical to the daily operations of business at Hasbro. Failure to properly maintain the SAP Basis infrastructure at Hasbro could result in extended outages of SAP production, which would impact the ability to sell product, ship product, and recognize revenue. This resource will work closely with other members of the technical infrastructure team (server, storage, network, security teams, etc.), the SAP application development team, third parties (eg. TCS), application vendors (IBM, SAP, Ixos) as well as with IT business liaisons.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILTIES:
Day to day SAP Basis Administration and Support:
- Design and deliver SAP technology components to support SAP application and business requirements
- Support Back End of SAP R/3, SAP Business Information Warehouse (BiW), and APO systems
- Support bolt-on interfaces, RFC interfaces, and third party package interfacing to SAP
- Work with SAP and hardware/software vendors to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner
- Provided on-call support and problem resolution for production systems on a rotating basis
- Responsible for maintaining disaster recovery and high availability environments for SAP and SAP bolt-on applications
- Manage and configure SAP printers and troubleshot technical issues
- Managed ALE and RFC communications
- Perform Kernel upgrades, apply SAP support packages, and perform SAP upgrades as needed
- Performed systems administration on SAP development, test, and production systems
- Support internal and external audits of the SAP application
- Perform system performance tuning of the production system and dev/test systems
- Provide troubleshooting and support for ABAP and Java systems
- Participated in the design, build and support of new and existing interfaces to SAP
- Support Related SAP Systems, Interfacing Systems, and Bolt-on solutions to SAP
- Administration of Ixos archiving solution and archiving/retrieval of archive objects
- Manage the SAP Graphical User interface, build update packages, troubleshoot issues
- Manage day-to-day operations with SAP Solution Manager
- Support data migrations and transports using Basis Technologies Transport Express utility
- Support the Tax Factory bolt-on application and application of Tax update bulletins (TUB's)
- Support the SAP Nota Fiscal environment and interfacing with external regulatory agencies
- Support SAP Process integration environment and XI environment
- Support SAP LiveCache systems for APO
Day to day DB2 database administration and support for all SAP installations
- Install and patch database installations to support SAP requirements
- Research and resolve IBM DB2 software and database issues
- Monitor systems and proactively respond to issues
- Work with business partners to schedule maintenance and communicate incidents
- Independently troubleshoot problem tickets and work with vendors to rectify issues
- Database software patching and day-to-day management
- Perform off hours on call support on a rotating basis
- Support the capturing and reporting of data access metrics
- Monitor database utilization and database space consumption trends
- Manage increasing capacity of database data files
- Develop and support data cleanup, monitoring, archiving procedures
- Support and refresh test environments to support business support needs
Support the backup and recovery of corporate data:
- Configure new backups of databases using IBM TSM
- Assist with data backup and recovery
- Research new trends and advances in database solutions and practices
- Help create strategic roadmaps for Hasbro database technologies
- Provide assistance for disaster recovery planning and testing
- Support the build/recovery of systems during the annual Disaster Recovery (DR) test
- Assist with documenting and maintaining the standard operating procedures for DR
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Experience supporting SAP enterprise system over 1TB in size (4 years minimum)
- Experience with SAP performance tuning and troubleshooting
- Experience with SAP archiving technologies (SAP Ixos)
- Experience with SAP solution manager
- Knowledge and experience of IBM AIX
- Experience supporting SAP Nota Fiscal preferred
- SAP Basis knowledge of SAP netweaver stack (6.5, 7.0/7.01 Basis level), LiveCache, Java, GRC
- Must possess a very high technical aptitude
- Must be an outstanding team player
- Must possess superior analytical and trouble-shooting skills
- Must have a sense of urgency in meeting project and task deadlines and in resolving production issues
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are mandatory
- Superior organizational skills and work methods are necessary for this position
- Must demonstrate initiative and be a self-starter
- Must be innovative in developing server solutions
- Must have a thorough understanding of change management concepts
- ITIL V.3 certification preferred
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- B.S or B.A. degree is preferred
- Minimum of 4 years experience supporting very large installations of SAP
- SAP performance tuning and troubleshooting,
- SAP archiving using Ixos,
- SAP solution manager
- IBM AIX
- SAP Basis knowledge of SAP netweaver stack (6.5, 7.0/7.01 Basis level), LiveCache, Java, GRC
