Network Support Specialist I -Global Distributed Services (Job Number: 1303061)

Description

The job holder monitors, supports, repairs and maintains network equipment and Servers for a large, complex global IP network. S/he supports and performs maintenance on file and Application Server software, hardware and also monitors network, server and application performance and availability. Job holder must have extensive experience with addressing various hardware, software and communications malfunctions in a multi-vendor environment. S/he must have experience with supporting components of a enterprise network, monitoring a network and Servers, and diagnosing and resolving network, server and application problems. Job holder must have hands-on experience troubleshooting technical (hardware, software, application or operational) problems. S/he must be a self-starter with effective oral and written communication skills. S/he must also be customer-service oriented and an experienced problem solver who seeks assistance when necessary. S/he must also be familiar with the company's total computing environment, including the existing technology infrastructure. Job holder must be adaptable to changing circumstances, able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work well with others.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 -5 years of technical experience supporting infrastructure components, or comparable certifications in the various fields of support, such as: MCSE, CCNA or Solaris Administration. S/he must have experience with supporting components of a complex global IP network, including the ability to diagnose and resolve network, server and application problems. Jobholder must have hands-on experience troubleshooting technical hardware, software, applications or operational problems. Jobholder must be able to prioritize and mange multiple problems effectively. S/he must be a self-motivated with strong oral and written communication skills and able to work well with others. S/he must also be familiar with the company's total computing environment, including the existing technology infrastructure. Prior BNY Mellon experience is preferred.

50 % Monitor, troubleshoot and repair network infrastructure components including appropriate managerial and business communications and escalations.

20 % Provide advanced support for various tools, technology's or process's utilized by the Network Operations Team.

20 % Work with Subject Matter Experts and Application Support Teams to develop Effective Knowledge base articles for support by the Network Operations Team.

10 % Performs cross training with Engineers and Network Operations Center team to improve overall performance of the team.
