We are seeking a Systems Administrator II to implement a complete monitoring system that would monitor our global systems. This position is a key member of the team that builds and supports our world class monitoring system. The position provides Infrastructure and application support of Microsoft SCOM Management platform to configure, optimize and maintain a world class enterprise monitoring system that will ensure the integrity of our computer systems, including enterprise systems, Servers, networks, desktop technology and other systems globally. This candidate will learn and understand our business requirements and ensure the monitoring systems are tuned to maximize performance. What you will be doing:
- Enhance our Microsoft SCOM based system to improve features and functionality
- Develop, enhance and tune available SCOM Management Packs using Microsoft Authoring Tools, .NET, Powershell, XML and VBScript for Real Time application performance monitoring of Enterprise Applications and environments.
- Ensures the monitoring system is kept maintained and kept current; develops and maintains scripts to automate system components; configures and installs software, maintenance packages, supporting products and other features.
- Support SCOM system functionality, resolving problems and facilitating development of systems upgrades, enhancements and improvements.
- Ensures systems meet business objectives and user needs.
- Provide training and technical support for Operations Support Specialists regarding monitoring, alarms, dependencies, and escalation management.
- Researches and recommends system design criteria, in coordination with development staff.
- Provides stable, up-to-date development environments.
- Coordinates with other areas of technology department and ensures system alignment with overall corporate technology strategy.
- Creates and maintains system documentation, such as Infrastructure Change Notices (ICNs) and Maintenance Design Documents (MDDs), Visio Process Documentation and others, ensuring that information is current and reflects system updates and changes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What you need:
- Bachelor s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Microsoft SCOM 2007 R2 or later Authoring, Reporting, and Administration Experience, including Management Pack authoring.
- Experience Deploying, and configuring Ops Mgr in Windows, Linux, and HPUX Systems.
- Preparing and publishing reports on Real Time information based on system and service performance
- Updating alerts (rules, scripts, and triggers) to support the current SCOM infrastructure
- General business knowledge required, including specific knowledge of business supported preferred.
