The mission of Microsoft's Office of Legal Compliance (OLC) is to build and maintain an effective compliance program worldwide. Within OLC, the OLC Program Team responsibilities include oversight over corporate policy and procedures, risk assessment and remediation, training, awareness and communication, reporting, program assessment, oversight and monitoring, and anti-corruption counseling.
The OLC Program Team is seeking a compliance attorney for the following functions and responsibilities:
Reporting & Analysis: The successful candidate must be an excellent writer who can conceive and produce insightful and impactful reporting and analysis of compliance activities and data to relevant stakeholders and related compliance materials. These duties would require the successful candidate to engage with relevant teams across Microsoft on compliance initiatives, and analyze and compile data and metrics for reporting. We are looking for an experienced professional who has a demonstrated track record of producing precise, useful, and well-written reports and communications, in supporting OLC's programmatic work that aligns with the elements of the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines for effective compliance and ethics programs.
Risk Identification and Remediation: The successful candidate must be able to engage with relevant groups to conduct compliance risk assessments, compile risk data, and lead remediation initiatives where appropriate. This will include coordinating the efforts of Microsoft's compliance committees, driving risk-based oversight and monitoring plans, and owning or assisting with compliance strategies and plans.
Training and Communication: The successful candidate must be able to both review and draft compelling content for demonstrating and communicating Microsoft's ethics and compliance program to a global audience.
Compliance Counseling: The successful candidate must be able to provide effective advice and guidance on compliance issues, including oversight of the company's conflict of interest disclosure program and other compliance initiatives and policies.
Key Competencies and Experiences:
- Demonstrated capacity for assessing data, issues, or trends in clear and succinct written work. Experience in reporting on compliance matters.
- Demonstrated ability to compile and analyze metrics and data and report on related trends and observations in a straightforward, helpful manner.
- Familiarity with the use of business analytics in reporting.
- Familiarity with corporate compliance issues, requirements, and topics.
- Organizational agility, analytical thinking, and excellent writing and communication skills.
- Self-starter and effective in driving cross-group projects.
- Ability to work efficiently and proactively, prioritize workflow, meet demanding deadlines, and manage multi-dimensional projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Great interpersonal and communication skills, cultural competency, and the ability to work as part of a team.
- The ability to apply sound, principled, and consistent judgment in a fast-moving and challenging legal and business environment.
- Well-developed business acumen and business management skills, complemented by strategic expertise and sound judgment.
- Strong commitment to fairness and integrity.
Qualifications:
- Must have a BS/BA and JD degree. MBA is a plus.
- Six Sigma or Lean qualifications is a plus.
- At least four years of demonstrated capability and experience in the areas described above.
